If you know anything about me, you know I love the ocean. Any day I’m not at the beach I wish I was! God’s calling and plan for your life is like the ocean. Looking at it is overwhelming; you cannot even see the end of it. Sometimes the ocean can be intimidating once you go deeper because of the wind, the waves, the unknown, yet within all of it is unexplainable, serene beauty.
God calls us to a life bigger than ourselves, a life bigger than what we think we are capable of, and sometimes the situations happening in our life seem so out of place and unreasonable. But that is because we cannot see the entire plan of our lives. Not yet. Maybe we will never know why a certain situation happened in our lives, but I guarantee you, it is all within a plan that we cannot see or comprehend here on this Earth.
Isaiah 66:9 says, “In the same way I will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born,” says the Lord. “If I cause you the pain, I will not stop you from giving birth to your new nation,” says your God.
That is part of being a Christian: trusting God even when there is pain. Even when the waves are swallowing your world. But if I’m being really honest here, this is a principle that is easier to believe on paper than it is in real life. But what is amazing to me is Jesus said we need to have a only a mustard seed of faith to MOVE MOUNTAINS!
Matthew 17:20 says, “And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.”
That is such good news. We only need a little bit of faith, and NOTHING will be impossible for you and me. Nothing. Even if you don’t feel like it. Facts withstand feelings.
So how do we move mountains? Honestly we can move mountains in the littlest of ways. Listening to a friend that is going through a rough time. Talking to that one person that no one else does. Living out your faith, not just sharing it, by serving like Jesus did. Counting others more significant than yourselves. People might think you are strange initially, but when they are going through a tough time, guess who will they come to? You. Because others don’t remember people who blend in. They only remember the ones who stand out- because the person who stands out has something within them that their peers lack. That thing is JESUS.
Live out the gospel in the little things. That is how you move mountains. Move lives.
